The Holy Quran has played a fundamental and direct role in the formation and evolution of some Islamic sciences, such as exegesis (Tafsir) and theology (Kalam). However, its role in the flourishing of sciences like Islamic philosophy is a subject of debate and differing opinions: Does it have a role or not? If it has been influential in these intellectual developments, how has it contributed to this important matter? Allama Tabatabai, Javadi Amoli, and Mesbah Yazdi can be considered the most prominent Neo-Sadraian philosophers who, in addition to their philosophical works, have also authored numerous Quranic and exegetical works. The present study, using documentary methods, logical analysis, and deductive reasoning, examines the role of the Holy Quran in the emergence of philosophicay from the perspective of these Neo-Sadraian philosophers. The research findings indicate that the role of the Quran in the emergence of Islamic philosophy can be divided into two categories: foundational developments and direct contributions. Foundational developments include four roles: encouraging the Islamic community toward rationality and intellectual inquiry; motivating Muslim scholars to utilize philosophical works; emphasizing the cultivation of divine philosophers; and contributing to the development and evolution of Islamic philosophy. Direct contributions encompass five roles: presenting new definitions for concepts; offering philosophical proofs; providing evidence and validation for the argumentative method; introducing a Quranic-deductive method; and utilizing Quranic issues, ideas, and theories.
