Abstract

Suicide, the conscious act of self-destruction, is a multidimensional issue in human societies. The main objective of the present study is to explain the Quranic components in preventing the phenomenon of suicide, which is presented using the grounded theory method in the form of a meaningful system and model. In this way, after processing a set of Quranic data for suicide prevention, the main and sub-categories from the relevant verses are stated, and finally, the model of the Holy Quran in self-preservation and suicide prevention is presented. The study of Quranic verses indicates that the realization of the Quranic model in suicide prevention requires various categories that play an increasing role in creating hope and giving meaning to life. Divine trial, reliance on God, and divine decree as causal conditions, patience, remembrance of death, and connection with God as contextual and reinforcing conditions, and self-restraint, planning, and assertiveness as consequences, as well as alienation, dependence, haste, and sin as obstacles, and attention to the blessing of life and hope as the most important strategies in the Holy Quran's model for suicide prevention
