An Analysis of Ethical and Social Principles Influencing Collective Interactions in the Qur'anic Verses: A Social Tazkiyah Approach.

Social purification (Tazkiyah) within the Qur’anic framework is a multifaceted process that begins with individual self-purification and culminates in the reform of the ethical and structural foundations of society. This study, employing a thematic content analysis method with a focus on the contextual examination of Qur’anic verses, identifies and analyzes three principal strategies for the realization of social purification.



The foremost strategy is the “strengthening of healthy social interactions,” which is grounded in mutual trust, respect for individual rights and boundaries, control of one’s gaze, avoidance of suspicion, and refraining from transgressing the rights of others. This strategy forms the basis for the reform of human relations and ensures collective health and tranquility, and according to the Qur’an, constitutes the primary ground for either the emergence or prevention of ethical deviations within society.



The second strategy involves “social guidance and collective moral education,” highlighting the role of divine educational systems, prophets, and revealed institutions in shaping socially desirable behaviors and reinforcing moral values. This organized guidance lays the foundation for moral development and the sustainability of purification at the social level.



The third strategy is the “promotion of the spirit of charity and generosity,” regarded as an effective means to combat the internal roots of social corruption such as miserliness and materialism, while fostering social justice, reducing economic disparities, and strengthening communal bonds.



The findings indicate that social purification in the Qur’an is an integrated, multi-level process that simultaneously pursues the reform of social relations, educational guidance, and the enhancement of moral values, ultimately paving the way for a balanced, ethically oriented, and divinely guided society.
